Well I hope the G400 works better than my Mystique 220 with RR! I understand the captured video quality will be the same. Why would someone want to trade up from the G200? I'm thinking real seriously at the Canopus Raptor with 5.2 pro as the editing software. I'm getting tired of the RR dropping fields. It just must not be that good of hardware or codec.

I just ordered my Marvel G400 Friday 10/8/99 and now on the Matrox web site they changed the information and there is no links to order the Marvel G400. It looks like Matrox is backing down on the date for availability or something. I find this very odd. I have confirmation of my order but no shipping confirmation number. Could someone that has knowledge of what Matrox is up to respond with information on this as a mistake made by Matrox or what? Thanx.

I was very hesitant on what symbol to use but went with a smiley face because I received my Marvel G400 today. I had a BITCH of a time tring to instal it. Total nightmare. I took out my Matrox Mystique G200 using unistall. I turned off my computer and installed the marvel. The screen just would not come up with the booting info, and I fought with the cards switiching and moving and switching, Thjis went on for a few hours. nightmare from hell. Well, I startted about 8pm and finally fighting with it a long time got it running and instaled most of the software by around 12 am. I have no answers yet, it just fought me me the whole way, I suspect that some more stuff should have been removed and uninstalled too but when/if I figure out why the process was so damhn horrible I wil post it. The most important thing is that it works now, but time to go to sleep. I will report finding in a few days, I hope.

I havew not had the time to look at anything,m but I can tell you I got everything Matrox said comes with it, and believe that maybe the latest tools, drivers etc, are actiually on the Matrox web site, but if anything is older, it is is only by a few weeks at most. I am stil a little confused on the Bios, whether I need to put the newest Vidoe card Bios of 1.04 in. I have a booting problem where my screen boot up info is ureadabldble. I went through this at a time in the past with a bad Bios version with my Mystique G200 card and the Bios upgrade then fixed that bootup problem with unreadble screen characters rolling by, out of sync. Well, I have this problem with my marvel G400. Which Bios version is the latest for it? The Bios that came installed new or the Bios 1.04 on the Matrox web site? I really am not in the mood to experiment. Thanx for any answers, and sorry if I cannot give any answers to tothers yet, as I just have not had the time to ge my shit together, but hopefuly I will in a few days.

Did not have any problems installing the Marvel G400! i bet its because i did a fresh install (Fdisk & Format) !

Marvel G400 Bios version is :1.5-22 came that way!

I just now started to play some with it & i can tell you it beats my old Marvel to death! i know its supposed to have same video capture features as old marvel, but it all seemed to work better! gotta tell you i love the Dualhead features!! nice being able to watch a DVD on TV & do other stuff on main Monitor! sweet, oh yeah it also plays AVI's in full screen on TV !! cool

Im still checking it all out & i did manage to do a video capture & it does not seem to suffer from the green screen or too dark! color was GREAT!!! Im glad now i got it!
So far so good...

will keep you posted!

Oh yeah i did install Powerdesk driver 5.30 (latest up for Marvel G400 with Turbo GL, and then installed Quake 3 !! WOW all i can say is that is ran sweet & looked GREAT!!!!

Um, JM, I did not see where you are from and was curios, I think that maybe each country might havre a bios for using the card in that country, so maybe the Bios numbers do have differences. Just a thought, am going to see who has which Bios installed as people report in with the new card and what they find. I do suspect my Bios is the problem of the unreadable boot info on the screen at startup, been through this before.

I got all features working. By the way, if anyone has Quicktime 4.0 installed when you install Avid, it wil tel you that Quictime needs to be 3.02 or lower version. So, you have to do a complete Quictime uninstall, and Avid CD Disc will prompt you to intall quicktime and Avid (I think I have al the names right). All-in-all, Everything so far is working good.

I ran the TV tuner from my VCR. See, over here on Daniels Cable, San Diego, I run a digital Cable Box for cable Channels and sometimes getting VCR's and s/w like those for computer TV tuners sometimes cannot detect channels from some digital cable boxes, but if you set them up right you can find ways to tune into the digital channels that are scrambled and unscrambled by the digital TV boxes. The piture and sound are outstanding on my Marvel G400. Still tons to learn and practice. I hope some of what I post here is useful info to others.

I remember I had a similar problem with my Marvel/200: pretty unreadable screen at bootup and in DOS full screen windows.

I discovered that it was happening when I was keeping a TV connected to the RCA Video Out on the Marvel BOB (TV on or off, didn't matter).

Disconnecting this plug all was coming back ok.

Could you test it keeping us informed?
