UT General Protection Fault!?!

What the hell is up with this?????!!!!!!

I even tried re-installing UT totally!



Here's my config:
UT v.428
DirectX 7a
Win98 1st ed.
FIC SD11 Mainboard
AMD K7 500Mhz
128 MB Ram
Toshiba 6x DVD
Acer CDRW 6x4x24
Aureal Vortex2 Soundcard
Matrox G400 32MB Dual-head with Rainbow Runner add on.
Maxtor DaimondMax 14 GB (2 partitions: 1 GB swap, 13 GB general)
Quantum 5400rpm 6 GB used for vid editing only.
Creative ModemBlaster (though not using it for UT)
D-link ISA 10Mb nic (not using for UT play either)

Uninstall and remove all traces of UT in your registry.

Oh, and reinstall DirectX.

Install UT again.

I tried your solution. The first time I ran UT, it just froze. The second time I ran it, it gave me the same lame error!

sbstrd: Do your other games still work? Did you change anything in hardware wise? I have this problems because I upgraded from a Pentium II to a Pentium III.

No changes to hardware, antdude. Soon, I am going to try the last resort, Format C:

If that doesn't work, it must be a problem with the new versions of UT. I'll keep you posted.

Bad Ram! That was the answer. I agree with a suggestion made about putting your slowest ram stick in the first slot. I probably burned out my new ram chip cause the board thought it could handle faster speeds than it actually could.

UT is VERY PICKY about ram.
I use it to test overclocking setups for that reason.

Does it matter if you put the faster RAM or third slot? Second slot doesn't have anything. I am curious.

I'm not sure. All I know is that your slowest ram should be in the first slot.
