  • what is going on? HELP!

Thank you for your attention!! ;-)

Usually I format my computer (I mean, my HD after long time testing) and install the Via Service Pack 4.23, so I can install the 5.52 drivers for Win9x, and so I install the DirectX 7.0a to overwrite any old file (which usually makes a better performance).

But now, I've tried to install the latest beta drivers (I hate beta things) just to test it, and I tested it on UT 420 and Rollcage II (which one runs very lightly). And I found that my PC got slower in both games, even installing DirectX 7.0a

So, I got back at 5.52 driver, and so on the problem "is still alive"... usually I got better fps in UnrealTournament running at 1027x768@32bits than now . I've made some "traditional" tweaks with no result. I've tried to remove any other driver with no success yet.

Can anybody help me to get my PC back to real good performance?

    Thanx

I'm not sure what caused your slowdown, ut try the following in that particular order:

    use Matrox' uninstaller - reboot
upon bootup install 'standard VGA display adapter'
reinstall your VIA patch - reboot
    reinstall DX7a - reboot
then goto system properties and delete that Standard PCI display adapter - reboot
upon bootup install latest beta PD6 (point to thelocation where it's extracted to)

    Hope that helps ...

I just got it back to the old performance... it's only installing the INF and AGP drivers... but only after formatting again ;-/

      thanx Maggi ;-)
