    DX Madia?

Well, if your Win Me comes with a search option, why not search on DX*.dll ?

You could always run DXDiag from Run under Start

What OS are you running? Under Win98, you can find the DirectXDiagnostic Tool under the Tools menu of the SysInfo Utility (look in Start\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Information).

Have you tried running the utility? The DirectX version number is listed on the first page (System).

What you see is the run-time.
The run-time system IS Direct X.
The other parts of Direct X are the things programmers use to develope programs that call the Direct X run-time dlls.
Like the difference between having Visual Basic run-time DLLs that you have to have to run some program that was written in VB, versus installing VB it's self so you can develope VB applications.
