The game Need for speed 5 (Porsche) hangs itself up after short time.
    Windows 98 SE
1009 is Bios of the G400
Beta 6.00.010 is the Matrox drivers the last have already I all other
    drivers tried, too.
I mean old 3 dfx Voodoo 2000 if map use there is not any problem with the
game, that is said the Matrox Card is the problem
Other Hardware is ASUS K7M Bios 1009 with 650 Mhz Athlon and SbLive 1024 with latest Driver

Somebody can help me with many thanks in advance

I can't say what the problem is for you, but NFS5/Porsche runs fine on my G400 Dualhead.

    PII/400
    Amptron mobo BX chipset
    Yamaha oem sound card

    (nothing overclocked)

How does it hang itself up after some time? Do you get chucked back to the desktop, or does the program just hang and do you need a reboot to get out?

The first (back to the desktop) might be because your desktop is running in 16bit or 24bit colour resolution, while you try to play a 32bit game. Change your desktop to the same as you want to play your game in. Also make sure your monitor can play in the resolution that you want.

The other option is to reinstall DX7.0a (English version), or uninstall the game, do a windows reboot, then reinstall the game.

Furthermore, there's a general NFS helpfile in the FAQs forum, as well as in the Archives: Need for Speed 4 registry hacks (don't let the name of the FAQ throw you off )

If you want more help, get back here or email me
