  • W2K & HL CS = major OS crash

    I have W2K Pro, PD 5.10, G400 DH 32Mb, K7V mobo with 1005 bios, 256Mb PC133.

Now, playing HL (latest patch) single player or TFC creates no problems at all.

But CS is a big problem. Basicaly it crashes the whole computer after some time playing it. First it was better, I just had to do something on computer after crash (like launch Netscape of some program) and most of the times it ran stably, but now it crashes all the time, sometimes just in the middle of the game. Either sound starts cycling or screen corrupts in some pallet.

I gues it could be not matrox problem, but who knows...

Another problem I sometimes have, is that after cold restaer of windows with reset button my video driver goes crezy, switches to VGA, still shows Matrox as graphics adapter, but does BSOD when going to display properties. Only way to fix it is to uninstall drivers, and install them back again. Takes two restarts. That could be related.

So, for now I have to play HL (not CS) and Q3 and try to install W98 on my all-NTFS hard drive... ;-)

Oh, some additions: Q3 works perfectly, I run HL in DirectX, PC133 is tried on both 100 and 133.

Ok, just switched to OpenGL - works great.
I have some strange texture artefacts sometimes, or sniper rifle zoom does not work (some weird horizontal lines instead of aim).

    Oh, don't forget gl_ztrick "1"
