  • G400Max and Beta6.00 to PD5.52 problem

Back when PD Beta 6.00 came out, I was all pumped up and ready for some more FPS in my all time favorite game, the HL mod Counter-strike. Anyhow, Beta 6.00 proved to be a disappointment in terms of stablity. So I wanted to revert back to PD 5.52

I uninstalled PD from the Install/Uninstall Control Panel Applet. Then I ran the PD 5.x uninstaller program just to make sure I got everything that might be remaining. Then I re-booted, and let win98SE autodetect the card and pointed it to the folder where I extracted the PD 5.52 drivers. Now when i use to play with 5.52 drivers, I would be able to get 60+FPS at 1024x768. Now I can't get more than 44FPS no matter what I do. Any help would be much appreciated.

It takes three reboots to load drivers correctly.

    Run the uninstaller and reboot.

At find new Hardware install the standard VGA adapter and reboot.

Then load the Matrox Drivers and reboot.

Also remove the Turbogl files from your games it is not needed with PD6.0 beta and will cause problems.

Remove the opengl32.dll from Hl and other opengl games.

Thanks Paul, but it would seem that silly me, I had a game setting/option set to cap the fps_modem (even thought I'm on cable) to 44FPS. I now have it back up to my glorious 60FPS. Thanks for the help though!
