You formatted your system and installed ME anew, afresh? There's your problem.

The version of ME that's out now needs to be installed on top of an existing version of Win98 or SE to work at it's premium.

So reinstall Win98, tweak that back into a working version and reinstall ME on top of it! It's the best way to do these things for now.

          Btw, why 3 threads?

              Jorden, that's a new.
Are you arguing that an upgrade install is better than a clean install?
Is this particular for the Via/WinME combo, 'cause I've had no problems with a clean WinME/6.0 on either BX or Solano?
Hypothetically speaking of course, seeing that WinME isn't released yet

Yes Sisyfos, it's from experience with the VIA chipset and the LX chipset. And most of the weekend I've been fighting (together with a friend (as well )) with a VIA chipset to recognize WinME (build# 4.30.3000) on a formatted hdd.

When we installed Win98SE first, and got that working, then installed WinME over it it was working fine again.

Well, maybe I should try that.
A friends computer (VIA chipset) is sleeping over, and I can't get Win soMEthing to accept his Mylex SCSI card. Blue screen at startup with ebios exception.

Well I just had this problem myself... I found that if you go into the agp directory of your via 4-in-1 drivers and right click on the viagart.inf file and select install it magicaly fixes all the problems that crop up.

I'm known for unconventional answers to strange problems. First off I'm sure it works here, since I did it and I've had no problems with win me and the video card where as before I could not get it to boot correctly with any powerdesk version.

I'm thinking WinME dosen't support the Via agp driver as well as they claim. Which is why if you install over 98(any version) with the via 4-in-1 drivers installed in 98 it works. Yet when you do a clean install of me the via setup program dosen't install the AGP driver because MS says they have that covered. Which they don't seem to fully.

so by forceing the install for the agp driver by right clicking it it installs via's agp driver and fixes the problem. At least that's what it looks like from here.

My system Specs are as follows

                      Athlon 650
                      Abit Ka7 (Via KX133)
128 megs of generic pc100 ram (because I was cheap)

                        Hey Samhailt!
                        Are you sure about it?
How did you got to it?
And by the way whats your specs?
