  • My face is acheing because of crappy GL drivers

I have been looking on Matrox's site each day the last month. Several things is wrong:

Dark/black textures. Flashing textures. Wrong colors.

When is the new drivers available and will things get better this time?

I am running the latest beta.

    Regards, Lars

You need to supply MUCH more info about your problem.

What game(s) does it happen in?
    Are you using TurboGL?
    What OS are you running?
What is your complete system config?
    What are your IRQ assignments?

The OGL drivers work fine for most people. I play a number of OGL games without any promlem.

          No IRQ conflicts.

Please, list your IRQs to us, although there may not be a conflict in the IRQs, it may have been set up wrong.

I want to show you my IRQs !!

To fix, uninstall TGL. It is not intended for the beta 6.x drivers. I have no probs at all using the ICD in 6.x.

Does it still do it when you are not using TurboGL?
As Rags said, TGL was for PD5.xx. You said you are using the latest beta (6.xx)

Goto your Q2 directory and delete the opengl32.dll file there.

TurboGL works fine for me (using beta 6). However, until recently, I experienced the same problem as bonne. After reinstalling HL and CS, TurboGL worked fine (and faster than ICD). So I determined it was my opengl.cfg (based on Kruzin's, for better image quality). Actually it was the command gl_round_down 0 that caused it. I set it back to default (3) and all is good. Check if this command exists in Q2. Set it back to default (not sure what it is in Q2, if it even exists). You can also try reinstalling Q2 and TurboGL. Also, set AGP Apeture to 256MB in BIOS when you use TurboGL. You can use ICD, but ICD runs slower for me, and also has some bugs.

Believe me on this one, the ICD is actually smoother in gameplay when running the 6.x drivers. Also, running TGL with 6.x causes MANY more bugs than running just the ICD.

Deleting the opengl32.dll solved the problem.

                          Thanks.
