  • Half-Life v1.1.0.1 & Matrox G400 still have problems!

Argh! I thought v1.1.0.1 was supposed to fix the graphic problem (Matrox G400 non-MAX; 32 MB). No, they became worse or is it just me?

When I load a map, I notice corrupted artifacts from the menus and gameplay. I can hit the ESC key and return to game with a fixed screen, but with black/corrupted textures on objects (health site). In TFC & CS, I get corrupted texts (i.e. directions).

Argh! Anyone else having these problems too? TurboGL v1.3 made the problems worse. I am using PD 6 beta, and I like it. I have no problems with other games. In fact, it fixed my texture flickers and corruptions in Soldier of Fortune!

I look forward to receiving replies soon.

You summed up my Problems exactly. I am having the EXACT same problems as you are =( I have posted numberous messages on forums and have heard that there was actually a big report filed to matrox on the matter. If you get a solution before I do please email me. I will do the same if I get one. thanks

Piggyson: I will . I wonder if the problems are still there in v5.x nonbetas? I don't want to downgrade since I can play SoF flawlessly. Any have v5.x and the lastest HL v1.1.0.1?

Is there a console command to refresh the video memory so I don't have to esc and stuff?

      [sighs]

I haven't noticed any problems with the new patch (except that they still haven't patched all the idiots playing on most servers).

I'm using 5.41. Maybe try dropping down to the 5.52 drivers?

Either way, there's not much we can do to help until you post your system specs and such...

The latest HL/TFC work fine for me with PD6 and no TGL. Played for several hours last night without a single problem or corrupt texture.

I had the problems a while ago while still using Turbo GL... now using just Powerdesk in Win98 it works quite well. Most of the time I play in Win2k where I sometimes have black textures which vanish when I use the flashlight.

No problem here, I've played intensivly for the past few days.
                    Using PD6 with TGL.
I've had screwed script once and it was after a server crash. Had to close the game and reopen it, oyher than that, everythings fine.

I too haven't noticed any problems with either v1.0.1.0 or v1.0.1.1, though the only thing I play is TFC.

                      5.52 drivers with TGL 1.3.

Come to think of it, I DID encounter some problems but I can live with it.

On the new map where the teams fight to capture five command points in succession, when I fire a weapon sometimes the projectile won't display correctly.

For example I just get a rotating white rectangle when firing the Assault Cannon (hwguy) or the same white rectangle flying away from the soldier's rocket launcher.

Not annoying enough for me to bother trying to fix it.

Well, TurboGL still doesn't work at all with CS. But it works with HL and TFC, and everything looks great (but the flashlight is not visible).

With the ICD, I get texture corruption from time to time, and sometimes the text gets corrupted too. When I first start a game, everything is fine. Sometimes, if I hit ESC, and return to the game, I get corrupted textures/text (opposite of antdude's problem).

I'm using drivers v5.52.015 on an ASUS P3V4 with G400Max, no Turbo drivers, AGP 4.03.

I am using an init line that is a "work-around" that I found for a bug in HL net code; found this on Usenet:

Add to your HL commandline the following if you are playing TFC:

-game tfc -console -condebug -dev -toconsole +net_showpackets 1

Bind a key to the command "net_showpackets 0"

When you connect to a server, you will see a bunch of stuff; wait until you see the map and hit the key that you bound after you see the server message (Your connected to Yada Server, blah, blah).

                            Works for me.

I have been having same probs as some peeps.I recently reinstalled Win98SE and installed the PD6 drivers.I updated HL with 1.1 then 1.1.0.1 and then CS with 6.6 (Plus Firearms). They used to play ok before with PD6 but now if I escape and return text menus are corrupt, almost like they were drawn by a kid with crayons!.Sometimes the text looks like Arabic or sumfin, but my text I have typed in never corrupts.Occasionaly my scoreboard will go blank and just give box etc.I havent bothered with TGL as I was under impression that it made no dif with newer PD's and certain screens res etc.
I was having same prob as everyone else when trying to connect to server, where it would wait out th full 60sec etc but I got round that by puttin +fps_max5 in command line .This worked flawlessy and when connected I just bumped fps back up again.

Im going back to 5.52 for now I think.
