  • G400 Max with K6-II 450?

    I have the following:

    K6-II 450Mhz (@500Mhz soon)
Epox MVP3G5 mobo with latest BIOS
    192Mb RAM
    SBLive!
    Internal Supra 33.6 modem
    Samsung 13Gb HD UDMA2

Win-98 with latest updates + VIA drivers + Liveware 3.0

G400 Max is cheap now, should I get one and drop my Voodoo 3? will I get nice performance and visual quality with my specs?

If you're looking for bumpmapping, 32-bit 3D, good video quality, and stability, go for the Max. Otherwise, stick with the V3 - it's just as fast with your system (if not faster), has better 16-bit 3D quality, and plays Unreal-engine games faster.

I made the switch from a V3-2000 to a G400 Max; and although I am happy with the choice, the K6 CPU's cannot even attempt to use the power of the Max.The NVidia GeForce2 Mx cards may be the best option for you!

    Matrox G400 Max
    Epox MVP3G2
    256MB PC133 RAM
    SB Live!
