premiere 4.2 and 8Mb upgrade

Im very new to P>C> editing, Previously many years on Amiga. 2 Questions. I have Marvel G200, Very good on Avid Cinema. Unable to record sound in Premiere 4.2.
Is there any major advantages in upgrading my marvel to 16Mb.

NO.

Extra 8 MB can help to increase the screen resolution in 3D games. They are not helpful for video editing.

To record with sound, you can use any capture application that works for you - typically VidCap, and then import files in Premiere editor. Premiere is not an example of stability with Marvel.
