  • Quake 3 and 4X AGP

    Halfway through the Q3 intro my system freezes. I have:
    Asus P3V4X
    PIII/700E
    128 Mb PC133
    G400 32 Mb SH
    27,3 Gb IBM HD
    OS=Windows 98
    Via AGP driver rev. 4.03 installed.
    I get 4X AGP and allother games/apps run fine, except Q3. Reinstalled Q3, no effect. Only when in uninstall the VIA AGP driver, Quake runs normally
    Any ideas?

    Try forcing 2x with the utility Matrox just released, and is posted on MURC's news page.
    If it still locks up, see if forcing 1x helps.

        Also what version of the video drivers are you using?

            I have found that reducing the AGP Aperture size to half the RAM fixed the problem with Q3 startup (ie 64MB)

            Also I am unable to run my G400 @ AGP4x due to graphical errors. I have had no problem running in AGP2x using the PD6 beta drivers.
