The question, will Ulead Pro 6.0 still support MJPEG or is it strictly DV and MPEG2?

Jerrold, are you going to the Expo?
If so let us know what you find out will ya

    Thanks,
    Elie

Sadly, I'm too busy at work to make it
to the DV Expo down in Long Beach. So
I will have to rely on another kind soul
to see the MEDIASTUDIO PRO 6.0 demo and
      report back.

Personally, I'm stoked about this because
      I understand it's a REAL PREMIERE KILLER.

        Will MediaStudio Pro 6.0 include:

        a) Direct File Import to CG Infinity?
        b) Enhancements to Video Paint?
        c) Windows Media 4.0 plug-in support?
        d) Provisions for "REAL TIME" editing?
        e) Improvement to Audio Editor?

        Inquiring minds want to know.

I have heard the new MediaStudio Pro 6.0
might be thought of as even more
powerful than EditDV and Final Cut Pro...
only for the PC... with special emphasis
          on MiniDV and Digital 8.

            Hi!

"Introduce"? Yes, but not for sale, I believe. What they will be showing is possibly an advanced beta. However, if anyone does go to LB, please, would they report here on what is being offered, bearing in mind all the questions that this thread will solicit, especially compatibility with existing Matrox products. Especially interesting would be (conflicting?) reports from a number of us.

A fellow on the Canopus DV Raptor forum
is going to DV EXPO and has agreed to
go to the MediaStudio Pro 6.0 demo and
report back on the new features.

If you click on the DV Expo site and
specifically on the "DV Buyers Guide" and
run a search on Ulead, you are given a
selection of three MediaStudio Pro options,
including MediaStudio Pro 6.0. If you
click on that... it gives just a slight
bit more information about the new software.

I, too, would be interested to know
                about compatibility with Matrox's
                RT2000.

Can MediaStudio Pro 6.0 be used with
                RT2000???

In theory, you would think they would
be compatible as the whole focus of the
new MediaStudio Pro 6.0 is DV and MPEG-2,
which is precisely what the RT2000 is
                all about.

                I'm betting there's "non-square pixel"
support in MediaStudio Pro 6.0, which is
important for DV since DV uses non-square
pixels. This has historically been a
weakness of Adobe Premiere and explains
why EditDV by Digital Origin has made
some inroads into what used to be the
                Adobe market.

No doubt MEDIASTUDIO PRO 6.0 will
borrow on technology just adopted by
Ulead in their collaboration with Ligos
                  on the "GoMotion" MPEG-2 technology.

Here's the writeup about VideoStudio 4.0:

                    Jerry,

I think Ulead should pay you for all the advertising you've been doing here lately

Thanks for the tip. I'll try to go and check it out, schedule permitting. I was registered but wasn't so enthusiastic about going until your news about MSP 6. I'll post the info, if I make it.

I wonder if the will accept my 5.0LE version for an upgrade price...?

                        http://www.ulead.com/dv_expo.htm

Hey... THANKS! I'm very, very curious
                        about the minimum system requirements
for this new version. I got the distinct
impression from a prior tip that this
                        package requires more processor
                        horsepower.

I think it has to do with all of the
                        MPEG-2 functionality.

I'm also curious to know if you can do
software conversions from DV, for example,
                        to MPEG-2.

So... I look forward to your report...
                        with great anticipation.

And I imagine they do have some sort of
                        upgrade path identified by now.

                        Thanks again.

Elie: I just do it out of the goodness
of my heart (and also because
I want to encourage more software
                        support for 'creative content
                        professionals who choose the PC.')

Sources advise the new MEDIASTUDIO PRO
6.0---to be demonstrated next week at
DV EXPO in Long Beach, Calif.---will
                          not feature real time support.

                          But please---anybody who's going---ask
the Ulead reps if there "are any plans to
include real time support in the near
                          future."

                          Thannnnk you.

By the way, Elie, I have Premiere 5.1
too and I'm finding it is not a bad
                            interface... just a more Mac-like
                            interface, which requires more effort
                            from me.

I'm learning it slowly... one step at
a time. There are some slick things
I've noticed about it... but I still
                            like MediaStudio 5.2 better. Premiere
is lacking the special effects area, too.

                            Unfortunately, as innovative as Ulead
is being with the latest enhancements
to their software, they're still missing
the boat unless they jump on the RT
bandwagon... and I'm hearing that isn't
going to be the case on Wednesday when
MEDIASTUDIO PRO 6.0 is unveiled at DV Expo.

Sure there will be lots of improvements.

But when RT2000 comes out and assuming it
starts to work and work well... then
PremiereRT will maintain an edge. It's
too bad, really, because Premiere still
                            doesn't feature non-square pixel support
                            for DV video.

                              Jerry,

I have a copy of Premiere 5.0 tryout. I hate the interface. That's why I prefer MSPRO. Hope they don't go and copy adobe on this one.
