Is there a fix for the sticky key problem with win 2k and Rogue Spear|Urban ops?

I have been running W2k for a while and I play rogue and UO alot, it is a but where you fire a round and the whole clip empties and if you reload it will empty again, there is a way around it by switching to your secondary weapon and then back to primary but its gets you killed usually. I am right now using 5.04.026 drivers with my G400 dh. Maybe the new beta ones have fixed it, I have not yet installed them(was waiting for final release)Thank you

Koolstick,

It isn't a problem with your G400, but rather with DirectX. Specifically, there is a DirectInput bug in the version of DirectX 7 that shipped with Win2k. Supposedly, SP1 includes a fix for this.

That bug is one of the main reasons I've kept my dualboot alive. RS/UO 0wnz0rz me

The easy way to fix your problem is to install the Directx8beta for win2k.
After I had installed it on my computer the sticky key bug that I had in Rogue Spear and Alien Vs Pred disappeared. Give it a try dx8beta works perfectly for me.

Thanks for the replys, is there any problems with using beta DX when the final release comes out? I know DX is a bit of a hassle to uninstall and i've had to fdisk and reinstall windows because of beta DX in the past. Where can I get it? Thanks again

Koolstick, while the DX8beta would get rid of that problem, as you observed, it will probably cause you a lot more of them...
Vlip is obviously a very brave person

Just wait for SP1, which is supposedly due out at the end of this month. I've tried the beta SP1 (see, I can't even follow my own advice) and it fixed the Direct Input issue that causes that problem.

But I can tell that dx8beta gave me absolutely no problem with my system.

I know it's dangerous but it works quite impressively.
My neighbor installed it too and no problem at all for him.

You have to take the decision Kookstick.

I can't tell you where to find it, because the link I used disappeared. But with a little search on the net you should find it easily.
