  • K7V G400 and D3d

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have i G400 max and the system locks up when playing certain D3D games (namely, Starlancer, Euro 2000, ST Armada) However Thief 2 & F1 2000 seem to work ok. Im not sure if this is a matrox problem or a game problem. However the locks appear to be similar in nature, i.e they occur randomly and at almost any stageof a game they like, it locks the system totally and only manually pressing hte reset button sovles it. The other symptom is a dump to the desktop, again random. Im inclinde to think its maybe a matrox problem because 3D mark 2000 also locks up and dumps to desktop, although i have run it through ok maybe 3 times out of ten.
    I have:
    K7 650 @ 650
    Asus K7V MB
    128 meg of cas3 133mhz Toshiba ram
    300 Watt AMD approved supply
Quantum 9.1 gig ATA 66 HDD
    G400 Max
    SB live 1024
    Adaptec cdr scsi card
    Creative 8x DVD drive
    Plextor CDR drive
    Asus 40X Cd rom
    Hollywood + Mpeg2 card

Nothing is or ever has been over clocked, the memory is running at 133mhz and the FSB is 100mhz. I have PD 5.52 installed, however 5.41 creates the smae problems, I have VIA 4 in 1 4.22 drivers installed and Via agp 4.03 installed. My IRQ assigment is below. I always use the matrox unistaller to remove drivers.

i know of someone who has that motherboard, here are a few things you may want to try...
decrease your aperture size in the bios below 64 or if you are trying to run AGP 4x lower it to 2x and see what happens

I have a simular setup but have the ASUS K7M. I was wondering is your Matrox AGP if it is I didn't see anything for AGP in your IRQ's For my board installing newer miniport_461 drivers solved my problem with games crashing to desktop. I hope this helps.
