  • Unreal Tournament goes Black in Fullscreen, D3D & OpenGL !

    Hi all,

I have problems with UT running in fullscreen, UT turns totally BLACK. If I run in a Window it looks okei, but who want's to play an FPS game in Window mode ?? ... I haven't had this problem before, but here is what I have done:

    Formated by disk, installed Win98.

    Downloaded all the newest drivers.

Installed DirectX 7.0a (not the one that came with UT)

Installed UT, upgraded to 4.13, then 4.20

Game goes BLACK in Fullscreen ..

Hardware: ABIT BP6 Dual Celeron 400, 192 RAM, Matrox G400 MAX, 17" monitor

    Please help me !

    Hi,
Have you tried different PD drivers? Try using the d3drv.dll file from the 405b UT drivers, I heard they are better plus thats what I am using...hope this helps

Argh, EVERY 3d game goes black in Fullscreen. Serious Sam, Half-Life, Unreal Tournament, Unreal ... HELP ME !!

I can't stand not being able to play games ..

I was woundring if it had something to do with DirectX 7.0a .. but I don't think so.

I have the latest version of all drivers .. argh..WHY ???

Maybe I have to sell my G400 .. cause this sucks.

What version of PD are you using. There is a known problem with the 5.52 and beyond drivers, although I have never heard of anyone with your configuration reporting it. Mostly it's confined to G200 and/or Via mobo users.

Regardless of that, try the 5.41 PDesk and see if that fixes the problem.

          Problem fixed

I installed PowerStrip (don't know what version .. the newest?) and it fixed my problem, both Unreal Tournament & Half-Life now works fine.

I think the problem is that the latest driver puts a to high refresh when using 3d in fullscreen, cause I tried with another monitor before the problem was fixed .. and .. yeah, I could see some things, but it was bad. But I'm happy now, it works !
