  • QuakeII - Stupid question alert!

    Hi People,
I think this will be classed as the stupid question of the year award
    OK, I have Win2000 & a G400MAX.
Just got Input Local sorted out so that I can install Quake II.
How do I get it to play in OpenGL?
If I select default OpenGL from the video setup screen it seems to go through it's change from software.
I get returned to the console and after checking the video setup I'm back in software.
It's been so long since I played this that I can't remember for the life of me how to get this running.
I'm assuming I need to copy the Matrox OpenGL file into the QuakeII folder somewhere?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Mike

Be sure to use the latest win2k drivers and delete opengl32.dll form your Q2 folder (TurboGl from win98 or maybe the 3dfx mini gl?).
Run your desktop at 16 or 32 bpp, 24 bpp is not acelerated.

      Thanks for that.
I was running in 24bit colour, up things to 32bit all is well.
      Cheers.

        Glad you fixed it.
You may try 16 bit, in quakeII you won´t notice a difference and it´s a bit faster.
