  • Quake 2 Problem

Well i'm not exactly sure if the problem is strickly Q2, it may also occure in Q3.

    I have a G400, running on an Athlon 700, ASUS K7V motherboard, 128 megs of PC133 Ram.

Here's the problem i'm having. When i'm playing Q2 or Q3, the screen just freezes and i have no choice but to reset my machine. Now i could be playiing for 10 minutes, without any trouble or problems and then all of a sudden, it will freeze.. The sound will freeze into a continuous loop of what ever the last sound it played was, and the screen will freeze and kinda move a bit... I can see whats on the screen perfect, but i have no choice but to reset the machine.. Anyone know what may be causing this little glitch?

    Thanks,
    Krider

Does that only apply when running Q2?
Or does it occure at other games too?
If you have any free Ram-slot, try to
put ur RamModule(s) from their current in
    that free slot(s).
something might be damaged ( the Ram or
    the mboard)

    I still use k62-400 & the AsusP5a.
Last month at a private LANsession some
****ole dropped my tower & fell on it(!)
& if nothing could be worse, the tower was still open ( I switched some jumpers)
AND ALL CARDS FROM PCI- & AGP were broken out
Then I testet the mboard & ram ´cause my
PC (or that what was left) still booted
but all games crashed ( : bluescreens and
    freezes)
I suppose you did´t have such an accident
but perhaps with this analysis you might
get a step further to be sure nothing´s wrong
with that hardcore-expensive RAM or mboard...

good luck, and try to reinstall Q2 + v3.20
    perhaps it´s just a installation-error...
