From the fOo vs [MU] thread,

I would like to go back to the DM,

I like CTF, for now. Deathmatch was beginning to wear a little thin (primarily because I suck, and Manifest has some kind of Kindness radar). I would like to play CTF for a while then when that starts to get old move on to assault. That would keep those of us with the adult equivelant of ADD interested. BTW, Thank you for setting up a server with people that aren't a bunch of trash talking, idiots. It is appreciated. C-Ya in the game! -Don

      CTF

I agree, lets do leave it at CTF for a while. And if we ever do get those trash talking idiots we can always have Haig reset the password. And enough of us are connect via ICQ or e-mail that we would be able to get the word back out to the MURCers pretty fast.

I vote CTF as well. I enjoy the real teamplay more than the suposed teamplay of DM. Besides which, I really do suck at DM,well, maybe not that bad, but in CTF I can practice my speciality, which some of you may have noticed is putting holes through other peoples heads.
I also think we should stick a few more maps in the rotation, perhaps Hall of Giants? I'm sure a number of you would have to download it but it is well worth it.

I have to agree with the majority here, for now, Oboy. I can do pretty well at DM, but even in team DM it's still pretty much just you, with little teamwork. CTF requires much better teamwork and some strategic thinking in order to win. This group seems to have what it takes, and I really enjoy the challenge (ask Beezer how many times he, Ice-Pop, and Compton nailed me with the rifle as I tried getting to and from their base in Face- They won, BTW. I probably had more frags, but they did a better job on the strategy side of the equation, by stealing our flag, finding a nice little snuggly hiding spot, and then waiting for us to lose theirs, hehe.).

Ace, After thinking about it I can go along with CTF. Who knows maybe we can challenge ppl to a CTF match only using Hammers??
BTW everyone played real good this weekend!!! I have some screen shots from Sat. night and will post a link when I get it together.

Some night we can have a Hammers only CTF match. That would really be a challenge.

It might be my imagination, but it seems that I get a better connection (ping rate) with CTF than with DM -- or maybe the connection speed is less of a factor in CTF.
My "running away" skills seems to be more appropriate in CTF

i always like team play better than death match. i can't wait for the strike force ut mod. i spend most of my free time playing counter strike becuase of the team and senario based play. i hope that once they relese the mod that it may end up on the matrox server from time to time.
                      untill then ctf

You're getting pretty good with those "running away" skillz, too, there Beezer. Specially when you guys managed to hide that flag on Face, just long enough to win the game, hehe.

Seriously, teamplay is tops in UT CTF, from my experience. A team with players who are only average DMers can beat a team of all-star DMers if they have the teamwork down better. Things like Pairing up for the offense, sniper/ambush/double teaming on the defense, as well as good flag chasers (when the other side has yours) and escorts (for when you have theirs, hehe) can make all the difference in the world.

                        Gosh, I love this game!

I, too, am a sniper by trade. I like CTF because you can snipe - DM is too fast paced.

I rarely go after the flag, preferring to hide and kill people.

When I come out of the shadows, I almost always use the hammer - I hurt myself less with that than any other weapon... I've been trying to perfect my telefragging skills too - more fun than firing 5 rockets across the arena.

I definitely vote for CTF as well; and while you're at it Oboy, could you install the CTFDoTheRightThing mod? It is very small, and it brings teamwork to a whole new level. I can tell you all about it if you like...
Also, have you ever tried LowGrav on Facing? Or Facing][ ?

DM was fun for a while, but I didn't make many friends by telefragging all the time. Atleast in CTF, I can use the translocater to help people...

I agree with the Hall of Giants suggestion... [some] LowGrav maps can be very fun.
