Quake3 in Win2K (on a BX)

I'm running Quake3Arena (full version, updated to the latest point release), and I am experiencing random lock-outs (or whatever it is called). After playing for a random time (sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes after 3 hours), it just suddenly quits Q3A, and I am back on the windows desktop (as if I had typed 'quit' in the console). This 'thing' did not happen much before, so I think it is either in the 5.04 drivers, or in the point release (or I don't have enough memory to run it properly; I have 128MB RAM, but when it quits, taskmanager says that I had a memory peak (continuously) of 180MB while running Q3A.

Does someone else have this problem too?
