  • Anyone managed to run SOF with TurboGL?

SOF runs OK with standard ICD (5.50 and 5.52) but when I put the TurboGL's Opengl32.dll the game freezes while loading the level (4-5 bullets before the end of the clip). I cannot make it run, tried the AGP Aperture size, but it doesn't make any difference.

Why do you want to run TurboGL with 5.52?

Azagal: I would like to know too! I think we have to wait for Matrox to release it.

Johnny Ray: For extra speed and stability. Actually, read http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum4/HTML/003460.html ... I am one of the unforunates.

Hi, I get the exact same problem.
Can someone explain how I make it work, as I just blindly installed the GLSetup program
that comes with SOF. Now my PowerDesk reports
5.52.15 (which pissed me off as I was happy with 5.30). The game freezes while loading
(4-5 bullets from the end). What files need to be where to make it work?

elmes: visit Ravensoft's Web site (http://www.ravensoft.com). Go check out the message boards for suggestions. I haven't been able to fix that crash problem either. It is a bad bug for Matrox G400 users.

I get the same lockup with TurboGL. Just use the ICD. It's what it is for. Obviously, TurboGL doesn't support SOF.

Firstly, SOF was released after the last TurboGL, so I'm not surprized it isn't supported.

Secondly, I've had far better luck running SOF on a G400/BX-based system than I've had running it on TNT2 Ultra/VIA-based system. Maybe Matrox staff are breaking into nVidia's headquarters and planting Matrox bugs in nVidia's drivers, or maybe things will work better when Raven issues an update.

It's a new game. I'm sure we'll start seeing fixes soon.

Could you guys post the game settings you use for SOF? Things like resolution, texture detail, etc.

I am wondering if the crash might not be caused by a specific setting. I had it happen in Q3 when using TGL.

Unless of course the TurboGL needs to be written specificaly for the game. But what does SOF have that HL, q2, q3, and even UT don't that would cause the problem?

Well, I'm sure the problem is that the newest TurboGL has no SoF support! Let's just wait for another release!

Yeah, it is either SOF patch, TurboGL driver, or BOTH! I am taking a break from SOF and play my other games .

SoF does not work with TurboGL.

SoF does work fine with the ICD, version 5.30 and 5.52 (I'm using 5.30).

SoF will have an absolute canary if it even thinks you have a second display adapter - G400 DualHead or a real second card. DISABLE the card in the Device Manager, reboot, then the game will work. I spent a few hours trying different drivers before I came across this little "feature." No, disabling the display from Display Control Panel does not work. And disabling it from Device Manager after boot doesn't work, either...
