• Powerstrip and Gaming

I have a question for you guys. Im using powerstrip under Win2k to overclock my G400 Max and I would like to know what the options are on the advanced property page and what the optimal setting for them should be. The options are:

Disable Vsync (which I have selected)
Use 32bit zbuffer (current deselected)
Force Triple Buffering (currently deselected)
Disable write combining (currently deselected)

Could anyone please explain these settings and what is optimal for best gaming performance?

Okay I am not sure I could explain to you what the different options do, but here's the cheese -- what they will do for games.

Disable vsync
Check this option for higher framerates, you might notice tearing in some games.

Use 32bit zbuffer
Games look better, but might run slower in high polygon situations. In any case, some ppl have reproted problems with this being enabled on Win2k, so leave it off.

Force Triple Buffering
Leave off.

Disable write-combining Write combining is good, so leave off.

In short, you have the correct settings already
