  • Hlaflife Multiplayer Connection Problems

sometimes when i try connecting to a server in halflife it gets to "initializing and downloading" and then stops... it just stays like that... no hard drive activity or anything.... i hafta escape out of it and connect to another server...

Why does this happen and how do i fix this.
BTW, i am using a home network, but im sure the ports are open, and anway i can connect half the time... i dont have a problem with escaping and connecting to another server... but i just find it annoying....

i use rogers cable, and my server is using Sygate 3.0

You could try cl_download 0 I believe thats the one that cuts off getting new maps/skins etc. I might have that one wrong, check a HL console command's site for exact info.

If you just want to cut off getting new skins and spraypaint (most new skins are just attempts by losers to make themselves harder to see, and I don't want to see every stinkin' clan tag and newbie hand-drawn POS in the world) use cl_download_ingame 0

I know that one is correct, I always have it set to 0.

        All in autoexec.cfg of course

        r_netgraph 1 suggested as well.

BTW, what do you use to connect? Personally I use gamespy, and it bypasses Halflife Fluff to some extent. (makes an instant shortcut with connect #.#.#.# and -game whatever and runs it)

Its not a bad little program, works with most FPS.

        Stupid edit message.
