  • Direct X problem !?!

Just bought Superbike2000 from EASports, installed it and it starts fine.I can watch the intro and the flyby sequences(they look great!).But when I try to start racing myself I always get the same error messages. I tried every game mode, but it doesn't matter. Always the 2 following errer messages (sorry for the german):

    1.Message:

(I realized that the "Register"- and "Stapelwerte"-values sometimes differ a little bit)

The reason why I wrote "Direct X Problem" headline, is that my brother said that he once got a third message, saying that soundcard- and graphicscard-drivers are not direct x drivers. Never saw this my own.

But I got the latest bios and drivers for my G200 installed. Also the latest drivers for my ESS Solo-1 PCI AudioDrive Soundcard.

    my system:
    P3 500, 64MB Ram, 12,5GB HDD, Matrox Millennium G200 (8MB), ESS PCI Soundcard, Toshiba DVD-Rom, Sony CRX-100 CD-Writer, Windows 98

    Please help!

    Thx

I have no experience with this game neither could I decipher German, but I believe the problem probably lies in your sound card.

    Modul MSSDS3DS.M3D
I guess MSSDS3D stands for Miles Sound System Direct Sound 3D.

Try turning off 3D sound or simply all sound, disable the sound card, etc. Of course playing without sound is really not a solution, still it's worth knowing whether it's really the sound card's fault or not.

Disabling 3dsound or sound didn't solve the problem.
But I found out a strange way to prevent it.
I select game mode, bike, driver and stuff and just before racing starts (in a screen where you can select free practice, qualifying or race), I select "end race", which brings me back to the beginning. Now I'm able to play with no problems.

But I also think that it's the soundcard that causes this problem, because when I don't do my little "cheat" and change the sound button (enable or disable) I get thrown back to windows desktop. On the other hand, I can change the button without problems after I've done the "cheat".

      Strange thing!

The newest drivers don't always work with the G200 and DX7 particularly with VIA chipsets (which you do not have) but the combination might still be the problem. The Direct 3d portion of DirectX will often crash. Try the 5.41 drivers which are stable with Direct 3d. Make sure to uninstall the 5.52 drivers using the Matrox uninstaller and follow the the directions in the readme file closely.
