  • Total failure with TurboGL

    Hello,

I got a new G400 dual-head 32Mb card the other day and I'm having trouble OpenGL games.
Half-life works perfectly well in "standardGL" [30 fps outside on CounterStrike OilRig ] but when i try the latest version of turbo GL [1.30.0.2] i get a black screen and the PC hangs. I get the same black screen on the Q3-demo with or without turboGL.

    My system:
    AMD K6-2 500MHz
    Tyan S1598 mobo 1Mb L2 cache
    192Mb RAM [128 + 64]
    Tekram 315 SCSI controller
    SoundBlaster AWE64
    3Com ISA NIC
    Windows 98 SE
    PowerDesk 5.52.015

    IRQ's:

    00 system timer
    01 standard ps2 keyboard
    02 programmable interupt controller
    04 COM1
    05 3Com Etherlink III ISA (3C509b-TPO)
    06 floppy disk controller
    08 system CMOS/real time clock
    09 Creative AWE64
    10 Tekram 315/U
10 VIA Tech PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
10 IRQ holder for PCI steering
    11 Matrox G400
11 IRQ holder for PCI steering
    12 PS/2 mouse [MS intellimouse]
    13 Numeric data processor
14 VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Controller
    14 Primary IDE controller
15 VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Controller
    15 Secondary IDE controller

I've got all the latest mobo chipset drivers from VIA, Tyan etc.....
    Anyone know what's up ??
    TIA,
    Rex the Runt.

    - Install 5.52

    - Instal TGL 1.3

    - Uninstall 5.52

    - Install 5.30, WITHOUT TurboGL support

    - Go back and try HL again.

This was my problem. TurboGL 1.3 won't install without 5.41 or higher, but it doesn't work with them. Try the older PowerDesk.

My VIA Apollo Pro 133A board, the Asus P3V4X, only allows TurboGL to run when the damm drivers are installed as I listed above. They're not the absolute fastest drivers, but they WORK, and I can game with both heads active, instead of having to disable one in the display control panel.

    Just my $0.02
