Sorry, I have just upgraded from a Voodoo 3 3000 to a G400 Max. I uninstalled all of the Voodoo 3 stuff,( went through the registry)switched to standard VGA, installed the G400 with the CD, then upgraded to the 5.52 drivers. Went into UT and changed from Glide to D3D. Overall it looks much nicer but the tearing and far away textures that are messed up looks pretty bad. I'll reinstall UT, update it, and see if that helps.

Get the beta D3D dll from http://unreal.epicgames.com It's in the tweaks section.

It is far and away a better renderer than the stock D3D dll. However, you'll still have some texture problems with far-away textures, even in 32bit color mode.

            Just my $0.02

The only problem I had was when I would use secondary fire for rockets, the textures would turn all cheesecloth with the projectiles, but after I switched to Win2K and used the latest drivers things appear much better.
              PIII 600E at 800Mhz, Waiting for G800, til then Voodoo3 3000, Asus P3B-F at 133FSB (ain't none better!), 256MB PC133 Memory, 2 Seagate 18GB Cheeeeetazzzz.

I did get the new DLL so I guess I just have to live with the odd backgrounds for now. Overall, it does look much better than it did with my Voodoo card though.

#1 do not use the drivers from the cd,
#2 uninstall all g400 drivers and such,
#3 reboot, configure as standard pci adapter,
                  #4 reboot, install 5.52 drivers
should get much better performance as well
                  good luck

I tried your suggestion Durango and that seems to have done it. I played a few rounds this morning and did not notice and tearing or problems in the distance.

                        Thanks,

                        Kirk

                              Play it in D3D mode.
