  • G200 Drivers 5.52 3D now jerky

I have been having problems with q3radiant and no problems with Quake 3 running on my G200 with drivers 5.41

I upgraded to 5.52 and still have problem with q3radiant and Quake 3 seems to run jerky.
I ran dxdiag and tested 3d drawing and the moving box moves smoothly for a few frames, then jerky for a few, smooth, jerky, etc.

I have reloaded 5.41 drivers and no jerky.
    Any ideas?

This is a known problem with the G200+5.52 combo. It happens on my G200 machine as well. Matrox is aware of this, and will hopefully have it fixed in the next version.

If you want to run 5.52, you can shut down (or not load to start with) PDesk...

      Same with the G400!
What I did was copied the PD*.* files from the (compressed) 5.52 directory to the (compressed) 5.30 directory, then installed from the 5.30 directory. I haven't tried the 5.41, but I CAN tell you that my 3DMark score went from 5149 3DMarks to 6107. The 5.52 drivers slowed it down about 1000 MARKS!!
      The jerkiness stopped.
Oh, the reason I kept the 5.52 Powerdesk files was because my Norton Utilities' Disk Dr. wouldn't run automatically with 5.30's.
      Hope that helps.

By the way, my Athlon, clocked at 660 (110 bus) got 6544 3DMarks.

      I Love the G400/Athlon!
