Actually Belshy i´ve played Avp online more than once. it wasn´t easy but was great!

You need a fresh install of the game, without installing the mplayer portion to play on-line. then go on-line and install the mplayer software and the update required to run the game (availabe in the game lobby) and that was it.

BTW if you don´t ever manage to play play on-line, Killing tons aliens with a minigun seeing nothing but jack and SH** is awesome. only beaten by UT. But i hope we can play it sometime together

          Oh i forgot something important!

After you install the mplayer software you must be very careful using regedit like utilities because they can erase some entries required to run mplayer properly.

BTW, REGEDIT itself also deletes this entries

Thanks, Lep'....unfortunately I have sworn never to use Mplayer....even when I had my TNT2 and everything worked fine I couldn't abide the way it operated.

Wireplay is the best portal so far. Even though it doesn't work anymore on my G400!!

Let's just see what Gamespy or the Gold Edition allows me to do in the not otoo distant future.

In the meantime I'm practicing on Hive, Jockey and Sewer as a Marine, in Skirmish.

I shall be ready, come the day :0)

              Hi.

The only problem I have with Q3A (and it's only a niggly little thing really) is that if I have the Turbo GL drivers installed (which give me superb frame rates I might add), and if I play at, say 640x480 in 16bit, then quit & go back to my 1024x768 32 bit desktop, the next time I try to play Q3A it quits and dumps me back to a desktop, at the same rez and colour depth as the previous game.

I then have to paste old Q3A configs into my Q3A folder or uninstall turbo GL to get back in and play.

One other minor problem...Sometimes the benchmarks seemed to deteiorate over the course of a week, but that hasn't happened since I've gone back to using the 5.41 drivers. I don't trust the 5.50 betas anymore :0) They screw up AvsP too, putting thin red boxes around ALL info text!

Why, what's your problem with Q3A, matey?

Oh yes, I see....UGH!! No, I don't have that prob.

But my Creative Banshee PCI used to do that in Hexen 2, when ever looking in water.

Yes, I played it one night modem2mdem for 3 hours...the best online DM experience EVER!!

That's why I'm so gutted that I'm having to play Q2 and Q3A instead. They're good, but not as intense by a long chalk.
