Q3A w/ 5.50.010 freezes

I've been having a difficult time trying to entering this game, the screen goes black and everything freezes after showing the id logo. Q2 doesn't exhibit this problem nor does Kingpin for that matter. I installed the drivers from a fresh new install of windows. This occured before I formatted also.

Use the 5.30 drivers, there are apparently some issues with non-intel boards the beta drivers.

I suppose you tried Q3 with the ICD because you did not mention the TurboGL drivers. Please try the following to get Q3 stable and runninng:

Download my driver pack for G400 cards (Win9x only) @ www.paraknowya.de and the TurboGL (latest) drivers from www.murc.ws as well as the PD5.x uninstall tool from matrox.

Uninstall the old drivers via the uninstall program and reboot the system.

Now install my driver pack and again reboot.

Check all the graphic card settings in the display tab and install the TurboGL drivers. Quake3 should be found by the TurboGL app and once the driver is set, start Q3.

Use some lower settings first to see whether or not it works.
