  • low gamma, Q3, and Win2k. A fix and question.

In my games the gamma is really low. The gamma settings in the games I have played are enabled but do not effect the gamma at all.
In Quake3 you can adjust the gamma bar in the settings screen (in NT it was disabled) but it does not do anything.
So what you have to do is:
    r_ignorehwgamma 1

then when you change the gamma you have to do a:
    vid_restart

this works but the quality of the graphics are not as good when adjusting gamma in Win98. The color seems dull.

    Question is this:
Is it win2000 (I was hoping it would be fixed from NT4) or the drivers.
Obviously hardware gamma change is not working properly.
I have changed the gamma in the powerdesk then loaded Quake3 but it only seems to make a difference when the gamma is set way to high (the quality is really bad then)

I guess no one has this problem.
    Or don't care.

NVidia's drivers are having the same problems. And fixing the gamma results in the same drab looking colors.

I haven't seen hardware gamma functional in OpenGL under Win2k.
