W2K (german) and G400 latest drivers

I read about this topic before, so maybe someone has figured out a solution by now. I'm using german final w2k on a BP6 (dual c400@560, very stable) with a G400 (latest drivers). After booting, Powerdesk still tells me there is no recent Directx installed. That's probably why games like Descent3 hang after a few seconds. Since the latest beta drivers are supposed to support german I thought the problem would disappear after installing them. Nope! Still the same. In an earlier thread someone suggested that it might be the german directx causing the problem.

Any ideas (besides changing to english w2k)?

dxdiag says everything is fine. DirectDraw and Direct3d tests also running fine.

Have you tried running dxdiag?
