  • Athlon G400 Opengl

Has anyone been able to get the G400 opengl (and/or) turbogl working with an athlon 700?

I'm using the Asus K7M board, Win98 SE, and have installed the current agp miniport.

The default opengl is not running, any time I use opengl I get the microsoft renderer instead of my g400.

TurboGL will not install. When I run the turbogl installer it says my processor type is not supported.

    Anyone any ideas?

    Cheers
    Graeme.

I have the same problem... Did you get the newest AGP and IRQ routing patch for the K7M? My computer just hangs whenever I have an OpenGL game...

I have updated to BIOS 1.24 and newest AGP and IRQ routing patch... to no avail...

Almost make me think I should switch to a different video card... *sigh*

      It's an AGP problem definitely..

I've discovered that my K7M system is rock solid if I select low hardware acceleration for the Graphics adapter.. Problem is that If I do this, opengl does not work.

I've updated now to Bios 126, AGP miniport 445? (from AMD website), and the new VIA 4 in 1 drivers. I've even increased the PCI latency and underclocked the motherboard slightly to see if that helps. no better.

I think, unless someone can suggest a fix, i'm gonna have to use a different video card. boo!

        Graeme,
I have a K7M, Athlon 700, G400Max, no such problems, install the latest VIA 4in1 Drivers, the latest agp miniport seperatly, u may a fresh windows install, avoid the drivers suplied on the K7M CD. Im using the 5.41 Turbodesk and latest TurboGL. Hope this helps.

hey, Incase anyone's interested.. I seem to have solved my athlon/g400 problem. looks like the problem was down to dodgy ram ultimately. I'm now using 100% PC133 ram.. dumped that dodgy PC100 stuff into another computer.

I tried Hex's solution of reinstalling windows + installing the drivers in the order he specified. It helped quite a bit, but still left me with problems.

          Cheers

          Graeme.

I have almost the same setup as Hex. Bios rev. 126 is installed on the K7M. However I didn't install the "new" 4-in-1 VIA drivers. I installed the busmaster drivers, the PCI/IRQ drivers, then miniport 445 (in that order). I'm using the latest set of "beta" drivers and TurboGL ver.1 for the G400Max. I don't have these problems!?!

I also am using PC133 RAM (KTI "TinyBGA" - not that my "stepping 4" M/B can really use the friggin stuff!!!) Actually, though I've always thought that Asus boards were great, I don't like my K7M. I'm in the inquiry stage of selecting a new board. Prefferably one with the VIA KX133 chipset.
