  • problem of lock up with UT and celeron 366@550

I have a bad problem with UT. I have a celeron 366@550 (with 2,1v) 128MB pc-100 G400 16MB, win 98 Sound Blaster 16 ( :-((( ). Well, my celeron is rock stable with all applications and with games, for example I tested it with 3d Mark 2000 for 2 hours, I play Rally Championship for hours and the same with other games like Expendable and all is ok! When I play Unreal T, some ways the computer lock up. This is a problem of my overclocked celeron? Why only with UT? If is a problem of UT, can I resolve it with the patch? Thanks....bye

could be a matter of cooling ...

UT is known to put real heavy load on your CPU (like Unreal was back then).

For a test you could leave your case open and probably use a room fan to point directly into your case ... if the lockups are gone you should think about improving your in-case cooling.

Try upping your cpu voltage .1 stuff like 3dmark is not as cpu intensive as UT,so it is not as good at testing cpu stability as UT.

Or try dropping back to 366 at 2.0v and see if it works. If it does, try better cooling/bigger heatsink. And don't forget the thermal goop.
I was getting lockups in UT and 3dmark2000 until I added a monster FDP32 heatsink and fan. No more lockups now

I had the same problem, with my PII 400@496

At first, my voltage was at 2.2, and UT was the ONLY program it would lock up in.

I upped it to 2.3 and everything worked like a charm.
