If you can't get your TurboGL to work in Q3A ect. try this:
1) First Uninstall all your G400 stuff.
2) ReInstall the latest G400 Drivers!
3) Install the AGP minidriver for your Mobo "very important!!"
4) Set the BIOS AGP Apeture size to 256 MB
5) Install the latest TurboGL

Now the TurboGL schould work It worked for me!

REMEMBER!! Inatll the lastest APG minidrivers, or else Q3A and otheres games will just show you a white screen!!

Hmm I have an Athlon 500, MS6167 (1.5 bios), G400 Dual Head (not overclocked). Running the 5.4 Powerdesk. Turbo GL has never worked for me (AGP Arp 256 meg, only 0000 in the display class registry, etc.) I just get the white flickering screen. Last
night I upgraded to the beta 5.5 drivers and right after the ID Logo Quake 3 immediately exists to the desktop and it looks like the gamma is cranked way up. Trying TurboGL with it I just get the flickering white screen again. So I want back to 5.4 Quake 3 is smooth enough for me at 1024x768x32 anyways.

has anyone tried removing the OpenGL32.dll out of their Q3 directory then starting up the game and setting the res to 800x600 at 32bit then backing out of the game and putting the OpenGL32.dll back into the directory? If I recall that was the original fix to the huge white screen when you start it up... give it a try

Errr, Nicolaj... don't you mean "All TurboGL users with a VIA/AMD chipset motherboard (primarily SS7 users, dunno about you lucky Athlon-ers)???

I haven't had to worry about an AGP miniport dirver since I moved to the BX chipset.

So, Lag, you may have never heard of this driver because it's irrelevant to you. What motherboard/CPU combo are you using?

I don't mean to get snippy, but whiny and/or self-righteous SS7 users have become my biggest pet peeve.

One other thing of note...

I had similiar issues with an earlier rev of the Turbo GL. Only it happened if I ran something that used DirectX prior to running Q3A.

Once I rebooted, and went straight to Q3A, with TurboGL - no problems.

If I ran a DirectX app, and then tried.. WSOD... (White screen of death)

Just Remeber people, if your not running in 800x600 or 640x480 TurboGL does almost NOTHING for fps... it just cuases head aches. I think i lost 3 fps on q3 without it. This install i didnt even bother putting it in. No problems. Worked great.

In that case, Lag, if you have not yet done so, you should follow the link High_Jumbllama posted above.

If you still have trouble after installing the miniport--and you may not--try Nicolaj's directions... can't hurt anything, and it's just what any helpful MURC-er would suggest.

Dyre:

Huh???? I just bought Q3A last weekend. Installed it and just for kicks ran the timedemo before running the TurboGL installation. At 1024x768, 16bit I was getting mid 30's fps (I can't remember the exact number). After installing TurboGL I re-ran the timedemo (same graphic settings) and got 49 fps. Seems to be the TurboGL does something.

Are you sure ?
I've run extensive benchmark with q3 and turboGl. I had gain of 30-40% in lower res (i.e 800x600 and 640x480), but in higher Res like 1024x768 and up, the gain was minimal, in the 2-5% range (which is 2-4 fps at most).
I was using a Celeron tough, maybe it's different with a PIII...

I got a system with Athlon-500, MS-6167 board. The same as Psychaos. Even with the same BIOS and driver version. (My G400 is 16MB DualHead) and I never get problem with TurboGL. That's strange, Maybe I'm just lucky?
By the way, I don't know how to get FPS in Q3 (I don't have retail version, but for 1.09 TEST). However, I didn't have obvious improvment by TGL driver.
