  • Hardware hacking a RR-G...

OK follow me close, and see if I'm not smoking dope.

I was looking at my G200 Marvel for which I have the Matrox DVD module.

The RR-G uses the same decoder module, but does not have an Dolby Digital (AC-3) output.

I am ASSUMING that the Dolby Digital output is done entirely on the DVD module, and simply output via two pins somwhere on the Marvel card to the Breakout Box.

If this is true, couldn't we enable this feature on the RR-G by simply adding/altering the connection on the DVD module to allow the SPDIF connection to exist? (Directly taking the signal off of the DVD Module.)

I realise that warranty invalidations and disclaimers would apply in fifteen metre tall letters, but would this conceivably work?

I am musing because IF this were a workable solution, I would get a Matrox G400MAX, RR-G and add on my DVD module with no loss of features available on the Marvel G200 (Dolby Digital is important to me.)

    Anybody?
