Yes, the game is now playable and is quite smooth on my system. Use Middle mip mapping and a resolution of 1024x768 or less with 16bit color (they previously recommended 32bit but that was because of their programming problems) When you're in the game choose the medium view distance and terrain viewing and the one less than the highest setting in the quality vs. performance settings. This turned out to be my best balance for getting the framerate I wanted vs still having the game look half decent.

In case you're wondering I'm sporting a G400 O/C to Max levels with a PIII500@560, 256MB ram, two 7200RPM 13.5GB IBM drives, a Soundblaster Live and a bunch of other stuff that's doesn't really come into the game performance equation.

The best thing about the patch for me is the stability. I'm using the 550 beta drivers and I haven't had the game crash once since I've installed the new patch. It's nice to finally get a chance to play for more than 30 minutes at a time and without fear of having to save every 5 minutes.

While it's not UT or Q3A, it's definitely better and definitely playable. I might even go so far as recommending it

I just might give the game a try.
However, I don't have a system quite as powerful as Allan2. Anyone running the game with a processor between 400 and 500 and 128 megs ram? I can accept playing at 800x600 and lower settings. Max speed is not as important as smooth gameplay (ie no chunking up), so has this been resolved with the newest patch?
