  • Cutting a clip in Premiere

    Hi,

I was having problems with the cross dissolving between two mpeg clips. I've tried to go to the 1 frame increment level of the timeline but the dissolve and end of the first clip matches perfectly.I think I've figured out the problem. I probably didn't cut the videos appropriately from their original source.

I just used the little brackets in the timeline workspace to crop them. Is that the wrong way to cut?

Can someone tell me if the "real" way to cut a short desired clip from a long original source?

    Thanks in advance.

Perhaps you can provide a little more explanation of just what "problem" is that you're having.
At first glance however, when you say...
"the dissolve and end of the first clip matches perfectly"
are you suggesting that the end of the first clip is lined up with the start of the dissolve or the end of the dissolve?

If you don't have two clips "overlapping" and the dissolve covering the duration for which they overlap, then that's your problem.
