  • Quake3 on Win2k? Gurm?

    Hey Gurm

I think you said that you were able to run Quake3 on Win2k and your G400. Any special settings? Anyone else with Win2k, g400 and SB Live and a working Quake3?

When I run it, I get a hard lock during the id logo movie.

Apart from this, my Win2k system is super stable, runs RC5 all night without dropping a heartbeat...

    No replies?

Does this mean no one is running Quake3 on a Win2000 G400 system?

    "No way dudes!"

The no replies means that there have been so many posts to the gaming forum that I didn't even SEE your post the first time, how's that for busy?

Anyway, I didn't do anything special. However, I only tried to run in 800x600, and I may have even been anal and SWITCHED to 800x600x16bpp before starting the game, and then quit and switched to 800x600x32 before running it in 32bit mode. In fact, I think I _WAS_ that anal.

P.S. You're not using the SB Live! "workaround" for Live!Ware 3.0, are you? That would be a problem, since it kills DirectSound compatibility.

Awright I got it running. The key was r_smp 1, without r_smp 1, q3arena crashed.

Performance is nothing great, 23.1 fps at 640x480x16 default settings.

Gurm, what sort of performance do you get?
