  • How to resize before feeding LSX

Capturing at full size is good, but I need to resize to VCD size before feeding my LSX Mpeg1 Encoder.
Processing through an intermediate AVI introduces degradation (unless you use RGB uncompressed and tons of hard disks).
    Any suggestion?

You can convert into the DV (software) Adaptec codec.
    http://www.adaptec.com/support/overview/1394.html
    then HOTCONNECT_ULTRA_V20_WIN.EXE
After installing this you be able to convert to DV AVIs from Premiere etc.

I should give you better picture quality for the filesize than MJPEG.

DV codec does not solve the problem of resizing to SIF size.

You can try morgan codec with highest acceptable quality for resizing and intermediate storage. 3MB/sec are usually more than enough for quarter size movie.

BTW - can anybody use their latest codec - I get only crashes with it.

        Grigory,

I've seen several posts on rec.video.desktop complaining that the latest codec does not work as advertised. I can't get it to work properly, either--particularly with VirtualDub. Encoded files don't display on the MSP 5.2 VE timeline properly, either (they all appear various shades of gray).

Morgan Codec 1.20a replaces 1.20 on M-M site.
It appears to work on my setup.

            Yesterday's download seems to work.

I downloaded 1.20a as well and got it to work. However, I can't get it to interleave audio and video under MediaStudio Pro 5.2 VE. It crashes VEditor (Kernel32.dll error).

Is anyone else able to interleave A/V? Or do I have a system configuration problem of some type? (I'm interleaving every 3 frames.)

              Thank you,
              Kevin

Well, version 1.20b was just released today and seems to fix my problems!
