  • Celeron to Celeron

With my current system I get 48.0 fps in demo 001 (Q3A retail) With these settings.
    - 800X600
    - 32 bit color
    - 16 bit textures
    - texture quality 2/3
    - vsync and team overlay off
everything else on. This provides the best visual quality without sacrificing speed.
Now its pretty good except for when there are more than 3 players on screen all unloading their guns. I'm considering upgrading to a Celeron 366 -> 550 for $37. Can anyone tell me how much of a speed boost I would see? If it scales with MHZ then it would be 20% or another 10 frames approx...not bad for the $$$$

W/o even looking at the game, I would love the opportunity to make a 100Mhz jump for $37. Who knows, you may even see a jump in the framerates

When I went from 337 to 525 I got about 11 fps difference in Q3 demo1. But I have all options maxed at 8x6. So, maybe you won't get the 10fps you wanted, but for 37bucks ya can't go wrong. Grab it. It will help.

I think what Maniac mean is that he will upgrade from a 300A@464 to a 366@550. So actually it is from 464 -> 550. I don't know about how much will you notice the performance gain, but faster is always better.
            I want the T&L in my G400!

go for it. i went from 450mhz to 567mhz and got 10-15-20fps (20fps->40fps) with the G200 and slightly better with the monster 3d ii.

              (q3a, 640x480, medium detail settings)

of course it cost me $90 for the chip, and $40 for the good brandname heatsink+fan combo. don't skimp on cooling.
