  • What chipsets are the new 5.41 drivers comp to?

Ok, I´ve been reading this forum for a few weeks now. It seems that the new 5.41 drivers are not compatible to some chipsets. Can anybody tell me what chipsets they are not compatible. I´m using an ASUS K7M MB and i´m having trouble playing Q3A. With the standard drivers it´s OK but I cant switch to 32 bit colors. If I do the menues are just black, green and pink ===> very strange. When using The TurboGL drivers I just get a White flickering screen and still can hear sound. I know I should try the 5.30 drivers, but why. Is it cause the 5.41 are incompatible with my (VIA/AMD) chipset or does it havea different reason?
If you can do it then do it...

It's an issue with the VIA chipset and 5.41. You are correct, 5.30 is what you want to try...

that URL would be: www.viatech.com/drivers/ But I'm not really sure that is for Athlon based motherboards. I think it is for MVP3 (K6-x) boards

          http://www.via.com.tw

would be a better choice, and btw, the 4-in-1 drivers also include software for not only mvp3 chipsets, but the pentium 133 chipsets, as well as (it will meaning) the kx133 chipset from VIA

For the K7M I think you'd need the IDE Busmastering and USB drivers, no more, no less.

Ok yeah youre right - The Asus MB does only use the VIA PCIset chip, which is used for ISA, IDE, I/O Ports etc.
For AGP the AMD 751 chip is used. The AGP miniport drivers for this one can be found on the AMD website ( http://www.amd.com/support/software.html )
Anyway these drivers do not seem to work with my system. (for system spec see "openGL again... posted today (04.01.2000)).
Q3A with standard ICD starts and then freezes in the menu after a few seconds. But it also works without the AGP miniport driver and the standard ICD (Pretty fast(At least faster than the shitty TNT 2 I had before))
If you can do it then do it...
