  • Quake 3 retail - black screen with TurboGL and G400MAX?

I am unable to run the UK retail version of Quake 3 when the TurboGL DLL is intalled.

The game displays a black screen - the same problem that has been reported by other users here.

I have installed the latest G400 drivers version 5.41 and downloaded the latest TurboGL.

My system is a PIII 500 with 128Mb RAM.

Quake 3 runs OK without the TurboGL, I get about 30fps at 1024x768 with 16-bit colours & textures and full texture detail.

I have tried many of the suggestions given here in this forum, but nothing seems to work. I even played around with the AGP aperture but it doesn't help.

    Dave,

You have tried uninstalling the TurboGL, setting the resolution to 800x600x32bpp, and then reinstalling the TurboGL, right?

I got it working by going back to the 5.3 Video driver, together with
      opengl32.dll version 5.41.006.001.

1024x768, 16bit, bilinear textures up from 31 to 45 fps!
