  • Halflife - Which is better D3D or OpenGL

Just a quick one as I'm sure it's been discussed before. But in terms of games, I am only just delving into the different settings for my G200.

I have been running Halflife (Counter Strike Mod) for a while now in D3D (800x600 16 bit), no problems. But latest 5.30 drivers cause the player info screen to become unreadable. This did not happen with 5.15 drivers. I switched to OpenGL and have no problems though I have not tested it for more than a few minutes.

Which is better/faster/more stable, D3D or Open GL?

    Thanks for any replies.

My system : Cel 400, G200 Marvel 16 meg, AOpen MB AX6BX, 128 meg SDRAM - Not overclocked. Win 98 SE

The Half-Life engine is an enhanced quake2 engine which was primarily designed for openGL. So unless you have explicit problems with your openGL drivers (I have no experience with a G200) everything should be fine.
The shortest distance between two points is under construction.

      Yup.
OGL all the way with that game.
