  • Newest TurboGL driver...

    http://www.matrox.com/mga/drivers/fi...urbogl_100.htm

Is it safe to remove my current Voodoo2 12 MB 3D card and start using the lastest TurboGL driver? Is it really that much faster, especially at resolutions higher than 800x600? I remember it didn't support Pentium 2s, but now it does.

Can I still keep the Voodoo2 card installed and switch between cards for games? Will I have conflicts? I read that this is not supported.

Thank you in advance for replies.

The first TurboGL MCD ran best for me at 800x600.

The Voodoo2 problem still exists according to the "Main Known Problems" Ant posted from the release notes. You have to uninstall the Voodoo2 and its drivers before installing the TurboGL MCD.

I haven't tried it yet, so I don't know how fast it is.

Testing it at 800x600, I get about the same scores as with the first TurboGL.

Benchmarking with Quake3 full version, Demo001, with a PIII 600 MHz processor and sound enabled, I'm getting just over 54 fps at 32-bit color depth/32-bit textures and 59.3 fps at 16 bit color depth/16-bit textures.

It's certainly a lot faster than the ICD.

Damnit. Maybe I'll hold off and stick with my combo cards without TurboGL for now. Hehe!

I bought the Matrox G400 for features (e.g. TV output, clarity, speed, 2D side, etc.). Not really for games ;P.

Oh well, I hope there will be way to have both cards installed and pick one to use for games! Argh!

Oh well, I took a chance to install TurboGL driver with the Voodoo2 intact. Nope, all games IPF'ed. Argh.

There has to be a way to keep both happy! Someone find a way please for us . [still loves his Voodoo2].
