  • UT, DX7 and 5.41 drivers on a G400MAX?

Unreal Tournament is supposed to have DX7 installed. But in the past when I installed DX7 it caused FOEs in the G400D3D.DLL. Does anyone know if the 5.41 driver release is any more compatible with DX7 than the 5.30 driver was?

Along the same line. Has anyone been able to get UT to run in D3D at a resolution higher than 800x600? Or have you been able to get the OpenGL version to run higher than 640x480? (I keep getting crashes [GPF type] when I try to run OpenGL at higher resolutions. :-(

I run UT at 1024x768 no probs with my Vanilla DH. I'm pushing around 45fps (Celeron550) at that res with everything turned up and 6-8 players.

Well, I figured out the problem with a little research on the Matrox Tech support site. (the FAQ to be specific) The problem had to do with how PowerDesk enumerates Monitor settings. Somehow I did something that made it so that settings for 1024x768 and higher were disabled when customization was allowed. Once I redid the monitor customization, this time disabling the lower resolutions that I never use, and reinstalled UT it allowed me to use higher resolutions. I also took a chance and installed DX7. That may have been a factor. In any case I'm happy as a clam now!! I just love both Team Tournament and CTF. There's even a few custom maps and skins beginning to show up. All I need for Ulitmate bliss is to have a friend come over to lead the other team of bots on system 2. Or to move to some other location where I can get a decent ping to ANY server.
