  • G400 32DH and RRG Problem

I have replaced a G200 TV OUT card with the new G400 32MB DH.
I also have a RRG installed
With the G400 I am experiencing problema during video playback
of Mjpeg full frame (704x576 PAL) video. The problem is both on
TV and on PC monitor if the mjpeg is seen at full screen.
The problem is a vertical jitter of the image. It seems that
one of the two fields is down or up shifted.
The playback with the G400 of mjpeg taken with the G200 is perfect
so the problem appears to be the acquisition.
I have replaced the G400 with another G400 on one of the two cards
I have updated the bios from 1.3 to 1.5. but the problem is still
    present.
All mjpeg done at 288 lines are played back fine.
In a couple of cases I have done 4/5 min. acquisition and on
top of the above jitter problem sometimes I noticed on top of
    the screen some blocks.

    I have a PII 350, 128MB, Asus P2B and SB Live.

    Any suggestions ?? Thanks

    Roberto

What versions of both the display and capture drivers are you using?

Also, are you dropping any frames in the capture reports?

I'am using Video tools 1.50 and 5.15 drivers.
I removed the old tools and drivers with the matrox unistall program.
I have 0 frame lost but I am only capturing short video.
The 2nd G400 that I am testing is having a different behavior that the
      first one.
I can obtain a good capture on 40% of the times using the RRG tuner
(a low quality signal) and practically 0% from the input line both
composit or s-vhs (high quality signal).
It seems to me that the RRG+G400 is sensitive to the input quality
      signal.

Yes! I only got a RR-G this evening, and found that at full screen PAL I get a real bad headache inducing jitter. Someone else must have seen this too? I'm using PD 5.15 & beta 1.50 tools too.

I have been told that this has been fixed in the new drivers & tools currently in private beta. I'll be testing these tonight to see if this has been fixed.

In order to get a little bit more of information, all of you that are having problems with the g400, provide information about the type of pc you have (motherboard, chipset, bios version, OS and hardware in the machine)
                  Thanks

I've expeienced the same problem after changing from g200 to g400.
                    Current hardware:
                    pii 350, ASUS p2b mobo, 128mb ram,win 95b
                    drivers 5.15 beta tools 1.5

had no problems with g200, experiencing
jittering in all resultions during video capture.
Yeah, well I'm gonna build my own lunar space lander! With blackjack aaaaannd Hookers! Actually, forget the space lander, and the blackjack. Ahhhh forget the whole thing!

I am lookoing at the possibility of getting a matrox Millennium G400 32MB and also a Rainbow Runner G Series card, al of this instead of the Marvel G400. Well, I was thinking it might deliver more in this way with the 2 cards. But, maybe just getting the Marvel G400 is the best thing to do to havew an excellent card and do all of the video work and having the break out box and the s/w package that comes with the Marvel that is different than comes with the Rainbow Runner G Series.
I am currently running a Matrox Mystique G200 16 MB and was about to purchase a Rainbow Runner G Series and changed my mind to get the Marvel G400 as soon as it is available. having all of the options leaves so many choices, and I just want to make sure I get what I need the first time around and do not choose the right combination of cards, software, options, and stuff. I see people here talking about ordering and using a G400 and a Rainbow Runner G Series and then there are some people that are going to use the Marvel G400.
Which is the hot setup for those that want a great card and be able to do video editing, TV tuning and the software bundle? or is the best thing to do is just get the Marvel G400? I see where some people are reporting some problems when using the Millennium G400 and the Rainbow Runner together, maybe that's a good reason to just get the marvel G400 plus the better software bundle? Sorry about rambling on over and over, but opinions from everyone here and their experiences will probably help us all understand which combination of components works best and is the best deal. Thank you all for al the great info and opinions!
