  • Quake III and UT performance on K6-2 450/G400 32 SH

Hello again its me, still trying to get rid of the murcette cape I have a question. How well should I expect to run quake 3 with my current setup? UT in no problem, i get 38 fps at 1280 x 1024 16 bit all high quality but in quake 3 I get 20.5 fps at 1024 x 768 16bit medium textures. I understand that I will not see the same fps as the K7/P3 users because I cant use the turbogl but I just want to know if its running like it should. Thx Jediphoenix

    Current system:
    K6-2 450
    128 meg sdram
G400 32 SH OEM non-max (but got lucky it has max heatsink and 5ns SGRAM) (agp2x and busmastering operational and humming)
    8.4 gig WD UDMA-33
    AWE 64 value
    Toshiba DVD-rom 6x
    HP surestore 7200i re-writable
    CTX VL710 17"
    FIC PA-2013 Rev. 2.0
    Win98

Quake3 seems to me to be an extremely demanding game. I suggest lowering your resolution to 800x600 and, when you're playing online, lowering your color depth and texture quality settings to 16-bit.

Hopefully, we'll see a 3D Now/K6 compatible miniGL from Matrox soon.
