  • 20fps diff between 800 and 1024 in Q3?

Hi, while was just doing a little bit of benchmarking in Q3test, i noticed something:
The frame-per-second difference between running at 800x600 and 1024x768 is almost exactly 20fps in both demos...and the difference between the demos at the same rez is 10fps...

    In demo1/demo2 at 800 i get: 49.9/60.3
    In demo1/demo2 at 1024 i get: 30.1/39.9

Is this normal? What are other people getting?
    I'm using Q3test 1.08 on a P3-450 o'c to 580, with 128Mb RAM, and a vanilla G400 o'c 126%.

    Settings used were:
    Colour depth: 32 bit
    Geometry: high
    Textures: 32 bit
    Texture detail: highest
    Filter: bilinear

Damn you're vanilla is clocked higher than my Max will go

I too get 20 fps more in 800 than 1024. And I too have a P3-450 overclocked. Only to 504 but I have two of them so...

      Deuge,

If you work out the maths, you will find that there is only a 1.685% difference in real terms between the two scores in terms of fill rate.

      800x600x49.9 = 23952000
1024x768x30.1 = 23548313.6 ( the two are quite close numbers....)

the difference is 403686.4 which is 1.685% loss from the first figure..

If you are not happy with the results, get youself a Athlon...

He'll be happy alright, he now knows everything is fine. I too get that kinda scores when I enable that kinda settings

Anyway, he don't need no athlon when he can get a geforce (hey, it's cheaper if you just want more fps)
