  • Problems with Installing G400 Max

    Hello
I finally recived my G400 MAX card and tried yesterday to install it. I had a ATI 128 Xpert card before and I started with uninstalling this. After installation of the MAX card it seems like nothing works, not even the demo or the game included with the MAX card. When I start the G400 Tech Demo I hear music in the beginning but after a few secs the screen goes black and returns later to system again. In the Rage Expendable game the movie intro works but as soon as the gameplay is about to start I get the same result as in the Tech Demo. Im using the drivers included with the card and I have installed DirectX6.1.

When trying other games only a few works (Half Life in OpenGL mode). Games that worked before with my ATI card (as Combat Flight Simulator) doesn't work anymore (returns to system as soon the game is about to start).

    I have the following system

    PIII 550
    Intel SE Motherboard
    128 MB RAM
    Mitsubichi Diamond Pro900U Monitor

Can a complete reinstallation of Win98 help me? Can some old files from the ATI card disturb the Matrox card?

I have found that a clean reformat and reinstall of Windows is the best way to achieve stability. The first Max I had I had the same sorts of trouble with it. I linked the whole thing back to my drivers from before, TNT 2.08. Remove all references from ATI from your registry. If that doesn't work just reformat your drive and reinstall Windows.
